Restart for the automotive aftermarket: This was the theme of Automechanika Frankfurt, the largest trade fair for the independent aftermarket, which took place from 13 to 17 September. With 2,804 exhibiting companies and 78,000 visitors from 175 countries, the German metropolis became the centre of the automotive aftermarket again for the first time in four years – the last regular Automechanika was cancelled in 2020 due to Corona. Over a total of five days, exhibitors from 70 countries were able to present their companies and meet their customers – including dealers and workshops.

bilstein group Focuses on Re-encounters

At this year’s Automechanika, the bilstein group focused on personal meetings with a stand concept with the main theme of ‘re-encounter’. 360 square metres of the stand gave national and international customers, partners, interested parties as well as workshops plenty of space to network and exchange ideas with each other.

“We didn’t know for sure beforehand whether the investment in the stand, which was once again 360 square metres in size, would be worth it. But after 2.5 years of pandemic, we didn’t want to miss this opportunity to get in touch with our customers personally. The conclusion is positive all around and our concept, which focused on networking and exchange, was a complete success. This was also reflected by many visitors”, said Thomas Mayer, Divisional Marketing Director at the bilstein group.

Lounge-like Atmosphere Encourages Personal Exchange

Spacious sofas and armchairs created a relaxed, lounge-like atmosphere, whilst select wooden elements and shelves emphasized the ‘open’ character of the stand. The shelves were filled with numerous plants and selected spare parts – from filters and timing chains to brake discs – from the various product brands of the bilstein group. Next to the well-known brand febi, Motair was in the spotlight for the first time. The Cologne-based company, which specialises in turbochargers, has been part of the bilstein group since last year.

“We notice our stand is one of the busier ones at the show and I think the reason for that is the design,” reported Chris Kahler, Regional Sales Manager at febi North America, live from Automechanika. “We decided on an open, lounge-like environment to have conversations in person, which we haven’t been able to have for some time.”

The focus on ‘re-encounter’ was a complete success and those responsible at the bilstein group are very satisfied after the five days of the trade fair. According to the organisers, Automechanika Frankfurt will continue its two-year cycle. The next edition is planned for 10 to 14 September 2024.
