The chassis plays a key role in driving comfort, safety, and\ndynamics \u2013 for example, when the road is uneven and when braking and evasive\nmaneuvers are required. Particular attention is paid to the rubber-metal\nreplacement parts between the individual chassis components – the chassis mounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important thing is to have good elastomeric\nproperties in order to transmit power precisely to the road, to provide the\nnecessary sound absorption, and to enable for optimal steering and driving\nbehavior \u2013 even in critical situations. Here on the blog, we briefly introduce\nthe most important chassis bearings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axle Beam Mount<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The design of vehicles is constantly evolving. The desire\nfor non-intrusive suspension systems that do not impact the interior of the\nvehicle has made it necessary to use a suspension sub-frame. These sub-frames\nare made of tubular steel or aluminum tubes and are mounted to the vehicle body\nwith rubber-metal bushes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strut Top Mounts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The suspension strut mounting consists of a composite rubber\nbush mounted on the top of the damper and connected to the vehicle\u2019s chassis. It\nis an integral part of the suspension strut assembly. Strut mountings can also\nbe equipped with a bearing or bearing plate, which allows the strut to rotate\nwith the steered wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The elastomeric materials used in the\nproduction of rubber-metal parts are matched precisely to the technical requirements\nand loads of their specific fitting position. Despite all of this, passive\nrubber-metal components cannot absorb all of the vibrations within the chassis.\nAs a result, hydraulically dampening elastomeric bearing \u2013 \u201cHydromounts\u201d \u2013 were\ndeveloped, which enable the isolating and dampening of vibrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anti-Roll Bar Bushes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The anti-roll bar is mounted onto the\nvehicle\u2019s sub-frame or chassis by means of two bushes. The positive connection\nof the bonded rubber bushes prevents relative movements between the anti-roll\nbar and the bonded rubber bush. The rotational movements of the anti-roll bar\nare absorbed in the mounting while the vehicle is being driven on a variety of\nroad surfaces. This achieves a high degree of efficiency to reduce NVH (Noise,\nVibrations, and Harshness) and increases driver comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
