However, if the work area is not illuminated sufficiently\nby stationary light sources, additional work lights on the vehicle may help.\nThanks to modern, efficient LED technology, work lights provide good luminous\nefficacy with a comparatively low power consumption. This protects the vehicle\nbattery and allows for longer working hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Advantages of LED Work Lights<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;High luminous efficacy<\/li><li>&nbsp;Low energy consumption<\/li><li>&nbsp;Exceptionally long service life<\/li><li>&nbsp;Universally usable with 9 and 32\nvolts on-board voltage <\/li><li>&nbsp;Vibration resistant<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like certain other vehicle\ncomponents, lighting is also subject to the regulations of the European Union.\nThe ECE regulations contain uniform, technical specifications that\nare relevant for the operating license of the vehicle. The following ECE\nregulations are decisive for work lights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>ECE R 10<\/strong>: This\nregulation certifies the electro-magnetic compatibility of the work light\n(including EMC control). <\/li><li><strong>ECE R 23<\/strong>: Work lights\ncan also be used as reverse lights if they are certified according to ECE R 23.\nSuch certification is subject to strict criteria: exact light values on the\nground and the light beam both upwards and downwards are essential. <\/li><li><strong>ECE R 48<\/strong>: General\nstandard for vehicle lighting.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/attachment-of-worklight-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4615\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/attachment-of-worklight.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/attachment-of-worklight-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/attachment-of-worklight-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/attachment-of-worklight-696x392.jpg 696w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/attachment-of-worklight-747x420.jpg 747w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Attachment of a work light<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Work lights can be installed\nanywhere on the vehicle which therefore prohibits their use in normal road\ntraffic according to the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO).\nAccordingly, work lights should not be switched on and off together with\nreverse lights or any other lights. It is compulsory to install a switch\nbetween the vehicle and the work light in order to comply with these\nregulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Use of Work Lights as Reverse Lights \u2013 This Must Be Observed<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quantity: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>M1 vehicles and all other vehicles with lengths &lt; 6\nm: one reversing spotlight required; a second is permissible. <\/li><li>All vehicles with lengths &gt; 6 m except M1 vehicles:\ntwo mandatory and two additional permitted (installation also permitted on the\nside of the vehicle). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Light color: white <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mounting height: min. 250 mm; max. 1,200 mm <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geometric viewing angle: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One light: horizontal \u00b1 45\u00b0. <\/li><li>Two lights: horizontal 30\u00b0 interior \/\n45\u00b0 exterior; vertical 15\u00b0 top \/ 5\u00b0 bottom.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Protected Against Water and Dust <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to be used for a long time and safely, work lights\nshould meet certain criteria. The following types of protection are relevant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/spray-test-work-lights-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4617\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/spray-test-work-lights.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/spray-test-work-lights-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/spray-test-work-lights-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/spray-test-work-lights-696x392.jpg 696w, https:\/\/blog.febi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/spray-test-work-lights-747x420.jpg 747w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Steam jets don&#8217;t bother this light<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IP67<\/strong>: Headlights with this standard are protected against water\nand dust penetration into the housing. They also withstand temporary immersion\nin water up to one meter and are protected against splashing water \u2013 however,\nthey are not protected against high-pressure cleaners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IP6K9K<\/strong>: Headlights with this high degree of protection also\nwithstand the intensive spray of a high-pressure cleaner. This, for example, is\nparticularly important for construction vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Floodlight or Spotlight? <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The light\nbeam of a high beam is determined by the shape of the reflector or the glass.
