The problem with 5-speed automatic transmissions (722.6)\nfrom Mercedes-Benz: no oil dipstick for the transmission is supplied during\nmanufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to Consider<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oil\ndipsticks provided by replacement part suppliers like febi offer a remedy for\nthis. However, there are a variety of things to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\nvehicle must be positioned horizontally on its wheels.<\/li><li>The\nfilling tube is located in the engine compartment.<\/li><li>The\nend cap of the filling tube is safeguarded against accidental opening. Before\nmeasurement, the plate of the locking pin must be broken off with a proper tool\n(Fig. 1).<\/li><li>The\nlocking pin can now be removed and the end cap loosened.<\/li><li>When\nfilling with oil, make sure that approx. 5 liters are initially poured in\nduring the oil change before starting the engine. The engine should be started\nand run for a short time while parked (in gear \u201cP\u201d). <\/li><li>Thereafter\nbriefly shift through the gears several times while idling. Afterwards, shift\nback to the park position (gear \u201cP\u201d). <\/li><li>The\ngear oil level during a cold state has to be between the minimum and maximum\nmeasuring range of 25 \u00baC (see Fig. 2). If necessary, the oil level should be\ncorrected and measured again.<\/li><li>When\nrefilling, the remaining oil should be poured in.<\/li><li>ATTENTION:\nWhile checking the oil level, the dipstick must be inserted into the filling\ntube all the way to the end point. Since the 5-speed automatic transmission is\nused in various Mercedes-Benz models, the filling tube has different lengths. Therefore\nit is possible that a portion of the rod sticks out of the tube even though the\nbottom of the transmission has already been reached.<\/li><li>The\ndipstick must be removed after measuring the oil level.
